Nashville, TN – Wellpath, the premier provider of high-quality and compassionate care to patients in challenging environments, is pleased to announce publication of our second annual corporate responsibility report. This report marks our continued commitment to transparent disclosure of the impact of our operations on environmental, social, and governance matters. We are proud to share the many positive influences we have on our patients, our people, and the communities we are privileged to serve.

Our report sheds light not only on our successes, but also on some of the challenges we faced in 2021. We are proud of the work of our dedicated and talented team of nearly 15,000 people, and we can report that they have continued our tradition of providing quality care to our patients with compassion, collaboration, and innovation.

Fiscal Year 2021 Report Highlights:

  • Partnerships to Improve Health Equity and Reduce Recidivism – We established our affiliated Wellpath Cares Foundation and provided the Foundation’s startup donation of $1 million. The Foundation makes grants to non-profit charitable organizations to address disparities of care that help reduce the impact of social determinants of health and improve the lives and healthcare of vulnerable populations. The Foundation partnered with the Morehouse School of Medicine, the first medical school established at a Historically Black College and University, to support their work educating the next generation of justice-involved care professionals.
  • Diversity and Inclusion – Jorge Dominicis, our Chief Executive Officer, joined a coalition of over 2,000 CEOs by signing the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™. “We are proud of our team members who reflect the populations we serve, and of our enthusiasm to continue improving in this area. Ours is an environment where every person is treated with respect, dignity, and compassion,” said Jorge. We continue to have a diverse workforce, 78.1% of which is female.
  • Supporting Our People – In 2021, Wellpath, in cooperation with our partners, invested $21.3 million providing additional bonuses, wage increases, and temporary differentials to supplement base compensation for frontline workers and site and regional level leaders, in recognition of their extraordinary commitments during the year. Our minimum wage of $12.62 an hour was greater than the minimum wage requirements in 44 states and 74% greater than the federal minimum wage. We remain on target to raise our minimum wage to $15 by 2025. Finally, we provided more than $395,000 in scholarships and tuition assistance to our team members and their families during 2021.
  • COVID-19 Response – Wellpath COVID-19 outcomes mirrored community outcomes, while providing care in vastly more difficult environments than those present in the general population. In 2021, while we observed a 56% increase in COVID-19 diagnoses over the prior year, we were able to achieve both a 34% decrease in patient COVID-19 related mortality, and a 41% decrease in COVID-19 related hospital admissions. In addition, we increased the use of telemedicine to provide safe and effective patient care through the Wellpath Healthcare Cloud, facilitating more than 480,000 telehealth interactions and shortening the time between request and provider interaction by a substantial margin.
