Background:

CRCC has provided nursing care, pharmacy, security, chaplains, facility management, and all other support services for individuals found incompetent to stand trial and not guilty by reason of insanity since 2001. CRCC also provides psychiatric, medical, and skilled nursing services for additional federal, state, and local government agencies. Wellpath Recovery Solutions assumed operation of CRCC in 2009 following the acquisition of Just Care, Inc.

Services:

In partnership with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, CRCC provides mental health treatment including comprehensive assessments, evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders for individuals involved with the criminal court system for a wide range of mental illnesses and conditions. Patients have a highly structured milieu and are encouraged to be fully involved in their treatment including treatment team meetings, group activities, education classes, life skills, and spiritual services. The Mental Health Department conducts supportive therapy groups each week. Education classes include GED preparation, computer technology, English as a second language, basic reading and math skills.

CRCC also offers a broad range of medical services, including full-time primary physician care, 24-hour skilled nursing coverage, and assistance with activities of daily living. CRCC provides acute, sub-acute, skilled care; intermediate and assisted care; geriatric and hospice care; pre and post-operative care; oncology and primary care services for a wide range of health conditions including, but not limited to AIDS, cancer, hepatitis, tuberculosis, pneumonia, cardiac disease, quadriplegia, kidney disease and traumatic brain/spinal cord injury. Special needs services include dialysis, negative pressure rooms, peritoneal dialysis, chemotherapy, enteral feeding, infusion services, tracheostomy care, physical therapy and ventilator care.

• Assisted South Carolina Department of Mental Health in securing initial Joint Commission accreditation for 178 forensic beds
